In the evening of June 15, 2019, CSIE was honored to support KOTO in holding its 20th anniversary at National Economics University. The anniversary brought the organizers and audience different stages of emotions. Yet, anyone, whether a guest or alumni, could not contain their emotions when knowing all the meaningful stories at KOTO. The event was attended by the Australian Ambassador in Vietnam, guests from Vietnam and all over the world, and especially, more than 500 KOTO students, alumni and families.
Founded in 1999, KOTO was originally known as a non-profit organization, a training school that owns a chain of restaurants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. KOTO was recognized as the first social enterprise in Vietnam in November 2015. With the motto “Know One, Teach One”, for 20 years, KOTO has been helping and changing the lives of thousands of disadvantaged and at-risk youth in Vietnam. To these special students, KOTO not only provides vocational training such as cooking, customer service and restaurant management skills, … but also life skills, communication skills, and foreign languages,… KOTO, up till now, is still the most inspirational story about social entrepreneurship in Vietnam.
